Sword Art Online (Both seasons)

I just finished rewatching both seasons. It's a really great anime, and they are even making a new movie that takes place after the second season. What are your thoughts on the anime?

Okay okay okay, let me take you though memory lane.

Interesting fact, Sword Art Online was actually the first anime I completely watched. It was my first step into a bold new direction in my TV life, and it'll always hold a special place in my heart for it.

However, SAO, looking back at it, isn't all that great of an anime. The main character Kirito is your generic cool akward guy, Asuna's your damsel in distress, and everyone else is either there for fan service or fodder.

SAOII, while being the better anime, doesn't provide much of a platform for SAO to stand on.

If you want to watch a much better version of SAO that actually makes Kirito, Asuna, and others interesting, I'd recommend watching Sword Art Online Abridged by Something Witty Entertainment. You can find them on YouTube. It's, IMHO, better than the actual anime. Of course, I'm not saying you would get the same reaction by watching this, but I would recommend it nevertheless.

Never heard of SAO Abridged. Is it made by the same people?

No, but don't let that change your opinion.

They're currently working on Episode 10.

Abridging surprisingly takes a long dunkeh time.

Lip syncing new dialogue, adding in VFx, actually getting people to have the time to voice the characters, it's a long process.

There's a playlist with the rest of the episodes, so I recommend watching through that.
